The steps below outline the process to register for the 2011-12 season. Officials must complete all steps by Nov. 30.

1. Complete adult background screening

The Alaska State Hockey background screening for officials age 18 and older is required. To determine if you need to be screened, please check the ASHA list (look for a link to a PDF file at top of the Web page) to review your status and determine if you need to renew. Additional information about the ASHA screening policy can be found on the ASHA website. Officials who are 18 or older MUST be screened before they can officiate any games. Background checks must be completed or current by Sept. 30, 2011 to maintain your current active status.

2. Apply online

Apply online with USA Hockey and pay the annual registration fee. Go to the USAH website to register.

3. Create a USAH profile, log in, register for a seminar

Officials who do not have a USAH profile should create one at the USAH profile builder Web page. Officials with an existing profile can go directly to the USAH login page. Pre-register to attend a seminar at the USAH seminar registration Web page.

4. Attend a seminar

Officials must attend an appropriate level USAH officiating seminar and, if required, pass the closed book test for that level. Pre‐registration is required for all Alaska seminars. Walk‐up seminar attendees are allowed if the seminar does not have an attendance limit.

The Anchorage seminar schedule is posted at right.

5. Take an open book test

All officials must pass the online open book test.

The official will be mailed a card and crest once all of these requirements are satisfied, and will be considered completely registered.
